The Shovel Brigade (スコップ隊 Sukoppu Tai), known as the Shovel Crew in the NiCALiS translation, is a group of generic Mimiga who have been told by the Doctor that the Island is about to be attacked by killer robots and that they'll need to grow Red Flowers at the Plantation to protect themselves. He also instructed them not to speak with humans.
Their personalities vary; some of them seem fanatically loyal to the Doctor and believe he's helping them while others are skeptical of his story and are begrudgingly working just to avoid his wrath. Some of the workers openly defy the Doctor and are imprisoned in a remote jail.
