NICALiS Aeon Genesis A silver locket in the shape of a fish. From the wear on it, the locket must've been dear to someone for many years. A silver locket in the shape of a fish. From the condition it's in, it looks like it's been treasured for years.

The Silver Locket (銀のロケット Gin no Roketto) is the first necessary non-weapon item of Cave Story. Collecting it is required in order to proceed with the game's plot.

Appearance

In the inventory, the Silver Locket is shown to be in the shape of a fish attached to a thin string. The fish charm has a darker horizontal stripe running from the head to the fin at the midsection of its body.

Collection

The Silver Locket is found in the Mimiga Village, specifically the Reservoir. Below the platform where Kanpachi is seen fishing from, a sparkling object is visible at the bottom of the pool. By entering the water and examining the sparkles, the player finds and collects the Silver Locket.

Function

As soon as the Silver Locket is obtained, Toroko is seen near the door leading to the main hub of Mimiga Village. When Quote approaches her, she becomes frightened and leaves the Reservoir. The player will eventually encounter her in the Shack, where she observes the Silver Locket and recalls Sue Sakamoto giving it to her. Toroko then allows Quote to keep the locket. The Silver Locket remains in the inventory for the remainder of the game.

Without collecting the Silver Locket, Toroko does not appear in the Reservoir, and the player will not be able to trigger any events when they enter the Shack.
